Nov. 13 - Welcome to Second Semester!! We will have a quick presentation so you can understand what will happen in this class while we are together. We have half the semester :)

Welcome Presentation

Nov. 12 -  We need to talk about Copyright and how it applies to us. The lesson I will give you can be found HERE and there are also some REVIEW questions that can be found HERE. Any class time remaining will be to watch "The Social Network" as it applies to Copyright.

Nov. 14 - We will spend 20 mins going over the review questions and answering them correctly so that you will be prepared for a Quiz on the information on Friday Nov. 15. Make sure you have the right info in your answers. The remaining class time will talk about Stop Motion animation.

Nov. 15 - Quiz first on Copyright and legal information. Any time remaining will be to brainstorm in your groups for your stop motion animation. You will start shooting your animation on Monday. Make sure you are prepared! Any props needed should be brought into school for Monday!

Nov. 18 - Demo on how to do Stop Motion animation with inanimate characters. Also a discussion on how to use the point and shoots and the tripods. Remainder of the period is to finalize your concepts for you stop motion animation.

Nov. 19 - work period for your stop motion animation - make sure you use the same camera.

Nov. 20 - I won't be with you today, you will have a supply teacher so you will be able to finish the movie "The Social Network". Each of you will be required to write and submit an Information Paragraph on the following:

Identify how the movie, "The Social Network" relates to Copyright Laws. Use specific details to explain your response.

This is a one paragraph short writing task.

This needs to be submitted by the end of the period today.

Make sure your name is one it.

Nov. 21 - work period for your stop motion animation - make sure you use the same camera.

Demo on how to put your photos together.

Nov. 22 - work period for your stop motion animation - make sure you use the same camera.

Make sure you start transferring your photos.

Nov. 25 - work period for your stop motion animation - make sure you use the same camera.

Nov. 26 - How to make a custom sound track. Demo on how to use Audacity and the USB microphones.

Nov. 27 - Last period for your animation. Once completed, use your time to work on your custom sound track.

Nov. 28 - Introduction to Filming lesson  we will just cover camera movements to start with today-

We will also cover how to use Tripods today. As a class we will be learning about film making. We will all have the same lessons and we will all have the same script to work from. In groups, you will all shoot and edit the same film but you will each interpret it in your own way.  We had a quick look at the skit yesterday. After the lesson today, you will form your groups and discuss the skit and practice the camera movements that you will be using. The practice can be done in the halls quietly. 

Dec. 05 - we will review camera movements and cover Shot Types today. After that you will be in your groups of 6 practicing the skit. You will need to sign up as a group for a shooting day... either mon, tues, wed, or thurs next week. You will only get one day to shoot so make sure you are practicing what it is you hope to do so that you make the best of your time on your day!

Once you have signed up, I will show each group the space they will be filming in.

Your groups should have approx. 6 people - 4 passengers, 1 pilot and 1 camera person. If you choose to have 2 camera people then you will only have 3 passengers. This will have to be flexible because we have an odd number of students :)

Movie Skit for everyone to use!

Dec. 09 - While you aren't shooting, your group will work on practicing and locating sound files as well as locating a film bit that you can swap in for the green screen. Today will be a practical demo on how to use the green screen. How to set up the lights so that you have the best result.

Dec. 10 - First group will film! This is (Madison, Mya, Chelsea, Kiara, Hailey and Agelina).

The groups that are not filming will be expected to complete the "Movie Terminology" worksheet. The worksheet can be done in groups of 2, but must be completed using your own words. Each definition must be in sentence format and relate to the film industry.

Dec. 11 - Group one will work on editing, group 2 will film (Nyla, Cassie, Cam, Jordan F., Adeline, Dana and Matt ) - everyone else will be working on their Movie Terminology Worksheet.

Dec. 12 - Group 2 will edit and group 3 will have the room (Darrin, Evan, TJ, Jordan, Sarah, Lexi). Everyone else is working on movie terminology or editing their movies.

Dec. 13 - Group 4 will film (Dakota, Rachel, Mikayla, Lizzie, Jessica, Shyanne and Breanna) group 3 will edit, 2 and 1 should be finishing up. Everyone should have their Movie Terminology Done for MondayDecember 16th!!

Dec. 16th - if anyone needs to reshoot a scene, today is the day! Group 4 should be editing. Movie Terminology is DUE today from EVERYONE!

Dec. 17th - Movie Terminology for EVERYONE should be done. Group 4 will edit and the rest of the class will be moving onto a small Flash Animation!!

Dec. 18 - Dec. 20 - Working on finishing your film or your Flash Animation - the movies will be DUE on Dec. 19th from ALL GROUPS!!

Dec. 19th - Movies are DUE today!

Dec. 20th - Animations are due today! I will mark it on your screen when you are done.

January 6th - this is a work period to complete your plane crash movies and your Flash animations. Once completed with these, you will use the remainder of the semester to create one final movie that will also be your final project and worth 30% of your mark. Your final film will need the following:

animated names at the end of the film

customized sound track

Make sure you get your script approved as soon as possible so you can start filming!
